The mission of the Comhairle’s Economic Development service is to support the economic and social regeneration of the Outer Hebrides through the development and delivery of key projects in the areas of innovation, traditional industries, business and social enterprise support and community regeneration while maximising external funding from all sources. The service works alongside external agencies, businesses, social enterprises and properly-constituted community groups to develop economic outcomes through supporting projects that deliver maximum local economic development impact. The service employs a network of Economic Development Officers, Business Support Officers and Regeneration Officers based in Stornoway, Balivanich and Castlebay who provide support with economic regeneration and business development projects.
